This\n new ruling not only will save users money in the annual en‑\n ergy costs, it will also help to conserve energy and help the\n environment in the long term. In fact, the DOE states that\n the new efficiency levels are expected to reduce energy\n losses in the range of 15-18% on average on low voltage\n transformers over the previous TP1 designs.\n\n Cost Savings? Yes The DOE states that the 10 CFR Part\n 431.192, also known as DOE 2016 will save about $12.9\n billion in total costs to the consumers. The new distribution\n transformer standards will also save 3.63 quadrillion BTU’s\n of energy for equipment sold over the 30-year period of\n 2016 to 2045.\n\n The new amendments to the existing efficiency standards\n would further decrease electrical losses by about 8 percent\n for liquid-immersed transformers, 13 percent for medium-\n voltage dry-type transformers, and 18 percent for low-volt‑\n age dry-type transformers. In addition, about 264.7 million\n metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions will be avoided,\n equivalent to the annual greenhouse gas emissions of\n about 51.75 million automobiles.\n\n The impact of the legislation places design compliance on\n distribution transformer manufacturers. EPACT requires all\n transformers defined in the Act, manufactured subsequent\n\nSaving Energy to January 1, 2016, to be compliant with the minimum TP-1\n efficiency standards.\n\n\n\n\n2 Dongan® Electric Manufacturing Company\n\fDistribution transformers included by definition in DOE Features\n2016 are those meeting the following criteria: • \u0007Meets NEMA DOE 2016 energy efficiency\n• Operational frequency of 60 Hz. standards\n• Input voltage of 34.5 kV (34,500 Volts) or less • Aluminum or copper windings\n• Output voltage of 600 volts or less • High quality, electrical grade core steel\n•\t\u0007Liquid immersed capacity of 10 to 2,500 kVA three • \u000741 & 73 Series have a 220°C Insulation system\n phase and 10 to 833 single phase with a 150°C temperature rise\n•\t\u0007Dry-type capacity of 15 to 2,500 kVA three phase and • \u000742 & 74 Series are copper wound and have a\n 15 to 833 kVA single phase 220°C Insulation system with a 150°C temperature\n rise\nLow Voltage Dry-type Distribution: • 60 Hz\n1PH 15-333 kVA; • Wound with electrostatic shields as standard\n3PH 15-1000 kVA, ≤10kV BIL • \u0007Standard enclosures meet NEMA 3R indoor\n outdoor requirements without the purchase of\nDOE 2016 also provides exclusions for the following additional rainshields\ntypes of transformers: • Available wall mount brackets\n• Uninterruptible power supplies • Non-standard designs available\n•\t\u0007Transformers with multiple voltage taps, the \t\t • Furnished with vibration dampening pads\n highest of which equals at least \t\t\t\t\n 20% more than the lowest tap.
