OSG
OSG is a Japanese manufacturer of cutting tools, established in 1938 and headquartered in Toyokawa, Aichi Prefecture. The company specializes in taps, drills, end mills, and other precision tooling for metalworking industries. OSG's product line includes thread-forming taps, spiral flute taps, carbide end mills, solid carbide micro drills, and indexable tooling. The micro drill bits supplied by 3G Electric feature solid carbide construction with TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating, 140° or 130° 4-facet point geometries, and regular spiral flute designs. These drills are available in diameters from 0.44 mm to 3.15 mm, with shank diameters matching the drill diameter for precision collet holding. OSG tools are manufactured to JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) and ISO specifications, with tolerances typically held to h6 or better for shank diameters. The TiAlN coating provides oxidation resistance up to 800°C and hardness around 3000 HV, suitable for machining hardened steels, stainless steels, and cast irons. 3G Electric stocks over 15,000 OSG SKUs, including micro drills, taps, and end mills, supporting global procurement for maintenance, repair, and production operations. The micro drill series is designed for CNC machining centers and automated drilling applications requiring consistent hole quality in small diameters. OSG's 4-facet point geometry reduces thrust forces and improves centering accuracy compared to conventional split-point designs. The regular spiral flute design provides adequate chip evacuation in shallow hole drilling (depth-to-diameter ratios up to 3:1). For deeper holes, OSG recommends their EX-SUS-GDS series with variable helix geometry. All OSG micro drills supplied by 3G Electric are packaged individually in protective sleeves to prevent edge damage during handling and shipping. The drills are suitable for use with standard ER collet chucks or hydraulic chucks, with recommended cutting speeds ranging from 30 to 80 m/min depending on workpiece material. 3G Electric provides technical datasheets and application support for OSG tool selection, including speed and feed recommendations based on material hardness and machine rigidity.
