[{"filename":"NXESI-6101-External_Servo_Interface_NXESI120_English_2015-06-15.pdf","text":"NXESI-6101\n June 19, 2015\n\n\n\n\n 3G-OTH-02769\n External Servo Interface\n For NX6100 and\n PPC6000 Series\n\nDESCRIPTION\n\n\n The 3G-OTH-02769 interface provides the facility to connect non-CANbus servo motors, for example\n NX20, NX50, NX98 or third party devices, into a NEXUS control system. The 3G-OTH-02769 has\n connections to the CANbus and to the servo motor. The CANbus powers and communicates\n with the on-board microprocessor and associated CANbus circuitry. Connections to the motor\n are at Line supply levels (typically 120 or 230Vac) and 5Vdc levels to the feedback\n potentiometer.\n\n CAN modules used in the NEXUS family, have unique serial numbers programmed during\n manufacture. These serial numbers are used to define the device type and its function as part of\n the combustion control system, during commissioning. CAN servo motors and the 3G-OTH-02769\n are considered to be ‘Drives’.\n\n Note: If a drive serial number is changed after commissioning, then any profiles using that drive\n will require re-commissioning. A ‘profile invalid’ fault (see FAULT 64) will lock the burner out on\n an attempt to fire a profile which has had a previously commissioned drive removed or changed.\n The profile can be re-commissioned by using the NEXT / ENTER ‘keys’ in commission ratio\n mode to verify all points on the combustion curve.\n\fSafety information\n\n\n WARNING\n The equipment described in this manual is capable of causing property damage, severe injury, or\n death. Installation\n 2.1 Mechanical Fixing\n The 3G-OTH-02769 interface has an IP65 enclosure with 3 cable entry points. Suitable IP65 conduit\n connections should be used to ensure continuity of the IP rating as required.\n\n Mechanical fixing is using the 4 points outside of the IP65 area as shown below:\n\n\n\n 160 mm (6.3”)\n\n\n\n\n Mounting holes\n63 mm63\n (2.48”) 4 x 4.5mm dia.\n 100 mm (3.93”)\n\n\n\n\n 145 mm (5.71”)\n\n\n\n\n 2.2 Option Link selection\n There are two option links that must be set according to the potentiometer configuration within the servo\n motor, as follows.\n\n\n\n Direct (1:1) potentiometer drive, or Geared (3:1) potentiometer drive.\n\n\n\n\n 5\n\f DIRECT DIRECT GEARED GEARED\n DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE\n\n\n\n\n JP3 JP3\n JP3 JP2\n JP2 JP3 JP2\n JP2\n\n\n\n\n2.3 Wiring Information\n\n2.3.0 General\n\n\n CAUTION\n Disconnect the power supply before beginning installation to prevent electrical shock, equipment\n and/or control damage. More than one power supply disconnect may be involved.\n Wiring must comply with all applicable codes, ordinances and regulations.\n Loads connected to the 3G-OTH-02769 unit must not exceed those listed in the specifications as given in\n this manual.\n\n\n\n\nThe enclosure MUST be earthed to ensure safe and reliable operation.\n\nThe screen terminals on the 3G-OTH-02769 only perform an ground function and do not provide strain relief,\nthe signal cable screens only connect at the screen terminals, unless stated otherwise.\nSecure all cables carried in conduit at both ends using a suitable anchorage method in the cabinet.\n\n\nWIRING INSTALLATION MUST BE CARRIED OUT BY A COMPETENT ELECTRICIAN AND IS\nSUBJECT TO I.E.E. WIRING REGULATIONS (BS 7671:1992) AND/OR LOCAL STANDARDS WHICH\nMAY PREVAIL.\n\nHAZARDOUS VOLTAGES MUST BE ISOLATED BEFORE SERVICE WORK IS CARRIED OUT.\n\nAll cabling requiring to operate at above 50v must be multi-strand single core PVC insulated 16/0.2mm\nand should meet the requirements of I.E.C. 227 or I.E.C. 225.\n\nDo not use a green/yellow conductor for any purpose other than earth.\n\nTo comply with EMC requirements, wire the 3G-OTH-02769 expansion unit using the specified cable sizes\nand screen connections. Clamp all signal cable screens to earth using the screen terminals provided on\nthe 3G-OTH-02769. Connect all CANBus cable screens to earth at the control end using the screen\ntermination clamps only.\n\n\n\n\n 6\n\f The equipment described in this manual has been tested for compliance to the directives listed in the\nsection headed ‘approvals’ in the NEXUS manual NEX-6101. However, once connected to a burner and\nother associated controls it is the responsibility of the installer to ensure the complete installation meets\n the requirements of the directives relevant to the particular installation.\n\n\n\n\n2.3.1 Terminal layout.\n\nConnection terminals are identified in the picture below.\n\n\n J5\n\n\n\n\n J4\n\n\n\n\n J3 J1\n\n\n2.3.2 Grounding CANBus cable screens.\n\nSeveral screen termination clamps are provided on the main control.
